11/2000, IFC Release 2x
The latest IFC spezifications - the IFC2x - were presented in October on the International IAI-Meeting in London. The level of quality and functionality was once more increased in this release, so that the current version enables a stable and secure exchange of data with great compatibility. Representatives of several leading software houses such as Autodesk, Bentley Systems, Graphisoft and Nemetschek confirmed to implement the version 2x in their next software releases.
05/2000, IFC Release 2.0
This spring the IFC Release 2.0 has been presented. The new specifications contain additional objects for HVAC systems, facility management as well as cost- and process-engineering. Two additional extensions were added by the IAI e.V.:
- the necessary objects for the exchange of data for the calculations of heat loads,
- the necessary objects for the coordination of the architectural and the specialty design of ductwork
The specification of the IFC Release 2.0 have been developed under great time pressure and thus a limit amount of quality engineering. As a consequence it was decided, that a well reviewed follow up Version 2x will be released in April 2000.
01/2000, IFC Release 1.5
In autumn 1998 the IFC Release 1.5.1 has been presented. These specifications build a first basis for the implementation of IFC in commercial software systems.
